mere christianity, originally uploaded by Chupperwidge.

I haven’t read for pleasure in a while, but now I’m reading Mere Christianity in my spare time. I sort of read it before for school, but now I’m actually paying attention to the points C.S. Lewis makes, and I’m catching more and more of his dry sense of humor. What I love about it is that C.S. Lewis always seems to be able to put truths I’ve always known as a Christian but have never been able to express into words that make a lot of sense.

Come to think of it, this particular copy belongs to Tara. It’s got her notes all through it -which I’ve been enjoying, by the way- and I seem to remember borrowing it… oh… four years ago? Possibly longer. It was when Mel and I came to visit for Easter, back when she still lived with Bethany.

…Whoops. =)

The library on campus is a rather nice one- it’s usually quiet, always has a bunch of computers available, and has plenty of places to study. My favorite is this set of corners near the middle where there are little couch-things a person can sit quite comfortably on. They’re hard to describe, so I’ll just have to take a picture of them next Monday when I’m there.

I like fog. I always have. There’s just something I love about it that I can’t quite put into words. And it usually makes for good pictures, too.

It was a pretty day today; sunny, temperatures actually above freezing, and a good day for pictures. And I got to try out Adobe Illustrator in Computer Graphics. It’s too bad that it’s so darn expensive- it’s a great program.

Anyway, that building on the left is the library, where I hang out between classes after eating lunch in the next building over.

This is our happy little mascot for the quiz team, Harvy. He comes with us to every quiz and sits on the table in front of us. We had the first quiz of the year today. It was long and hard, as always, and our team won two games and lost three. Not our best, but hey, I was happy that we won even those. I’d forgotten how tough and competitive quizzing can be.

Now I get to study Ephesians 1 and 2. I’m looking forward to it- I like Ephesians quite a bit.

I like this building. Mom and I pass it every day on the way to classes, and I always wonder what it looks like on the inside.

snow on the picnic table, originally uploaded by Chupperwidge.

At one point this afternoon, I wandered outside with Mom’s camera in hand to take a break from my pile of schoolwork. I took pictures of the back yard, like this one, and then meandered over to the front yard. While I was there -in my pajamas- my old school bus, which happened to be full of elementary school children and my bus driver (whom I think still remembers me- she waves at me when she passes if I’m outside). I suppose that’s what I get for staying in my pjs all day. =)

It’s been nice to have a day where I haven’t had to go anywhere. This weekend isn’t going to be all that restful, since we’ve got a party tomorrow night and the first quiz meet on Sunday. And then, there’s a whole new week of classes, so today was it. I’m okay with that, though. I’ve found so far that being so busy isn’t quite as bad as I thought it would be.

I enjoy taking photos of the bare trees against the sky, especially at different times during the day. I like the way this one turned out, with the silvery clouds behind it.

It’s been a long week. Good, but long. Classes haven’t been too overwhelming… yet. Everyone keeps saying it’ll all come flooding in at once. But until then, I’m going to enjoy the free time I’ve got.

red tint of dusk, originally uploaded by Chupperwidge.

Dusk is my favorite time of day, especially since it is the best time to take splendid pictures such as this one. This is actually just a random building that I happened to notice was covered in the reddish tint of dusk.

So, I had my other two classes today. They were both very interesting, much more so than Biology. (I like my Biology professor so far, but there’s just no way to make that subject interesting, no matter how it’s presented.) I think I’m going to enjoy this whole college class thing quite a bit. =)

Today was my first official day of classes at HCC. I only had Biology- Computer Graphics and Psychology are tomorrow. It’s a nice little campus. Small, navigable, and all-around pleasant. And the class wasn’t too bad, seeing that it was the beginning of the subject and I’ve studied this particular part before. But once things progress past where I stopped, it should get interesting. I’m enjoying the peace while I still can.
