Fun Stuff (for lack of a better title) September 27, 2006

I’m really looking forward to the next few weeks. This weekend, Mom and Mel are going to some kind of women’s retreat, and the weekend after, I’m going to a youth retreat. And then the week after that, Sarah’s coming to visit for two weeks.

As for the retreat, Angie and I are the only girls from our youth group going, but that’s okay- it’ll still be tons of fun. I can’t wait until we go! I’m not sure what to expect; I only know that the retreat will be at a camp on the west side of the island, we’ll be staying in cabins, and we’ll be going with another church’s youth group. People have also mentioned that there will be lots of games and even archery, too, so I’ll have to write all about it when I get back. That is, if I have the energy after the three days.

It’ll definitely be cool to have Sarah here. Not only do we get to show her around the island and have tons of fun, but I’ll probably end up skipping a few days of school while she’s here. Yay!

Speaking of school, it still sucks, and Geometry and Chemistry keep getting harder and harder. I was supposed to do a bunch of tests today, but after we got home from my weekly writing class (can’t tell I’ve been taking it, though, since I don’t really bother using any of the techniques when I blog) I ended up taking a nap. I haven’t really felt all that well since yesterday, so Mom let me skip the tests today. That just means I’ve got double to do tomorrow, but meh, I can handle it. After all, I’ve decided to make myself be motivated. Wonder how long that’s going to last…?

Anyone ever heard of an anime called Fruits Basket? Thanks to Angie, who recommended it, I’ve now fallen in love with the show and the manga (y’know, the Japanese comic books that you read from right to left) . It’s such a cute show, with lots of humor and lovable characters. Melissa watched a few episodes with me, and now she’s hooked on it too. We’ve been making an effort to watch a couple every night, and we haven’t yet tonight because we’re both on the Internet. We were also going to do DDR, but neither of us felt like it anyway. I just wanted to blog for a change before we headed back upstairs (we were downstairs because it’s cooler) and watch some Furuba. =)

Busy and Bored September 7, 2006

Even though I don’t have all that much going on, I do want to keep up with the frequent blogging thing. Last week and this week have been kinda boring since there wasn’t youth group last week because of the bimonthly business meeting, and there hasn’t been life group on Sunday night for the past two weeks for one reason or another. Pretty sad, especially since the majority of my social life is at church. But there was church the other night, so I’ll be good until Sunday.

We’ve been hanging out a lot with Debbie, Bianca, and Kyle lately, too, so that’s why it’s been partially boring, not all. We went to the Hale Koa for lunch on Monday and went to the $1 theater in Honolulu afterwards. Fun stuff, but the theater was insanely crowded. And then there was this guy who kept getting up and down during the movie (it was Cars, by the way), and he ended up spiling popcorn on Bianca and me and accidentally dropping her drink on the floor. Interesting experience. But I suppose that’s what we get for going to the movies on Labor Day.

I’ve been going to this writing class for three weeks now, and it’s kinda tedious. We basically watch a video of this guy who teaches us all these different techniques to juice up our writing, and then we apply them and do a few things as a group. There’s a ton of stuff to remember to add to the paragraphs we write, and I’m always afraid I’ll forget something. And everyone there seems to know each other… everyone but me. I have trouble talking to people anyway, but this makes it harder. A couple of people did talk to me because they saw me standing alone, and they were really nice, but it was still a little awkward; I never know what to say. Ah well, it only lasts until the beginning of December.
